Muppy Embryo

Overview


This miniature system (around 43 MB) is based on Puppylinux 3.01.
It includes the Muppy-patches.
So the name-convention for the SFS-files is "msy", not "pup".
It is a system for advanced users, to create highly memory-optimized Muppy-derivates.

/usr was completely removed (except /usr/sbin).
Then it was rebuilt from scratch.

Xvesa is included, but not Xorg.
The Windowmanager is an older version of JWM with only few dependencies.
The Startmenumust be edited manually (/root/.jwmrc), XDG is not used (deactivated in /usr/sbin/fixmenus).
Grafical utilities are the filemanager XFileExplorer, the editor Leafpad, and some of Puppys Wizards.

You can use PetGet to install further applications.
To install dotpups, download them, then click on them in XFileExplorer.


NETWORK:

In /etc/rc.d/rc.local etho0 and eth1 are activated, then a IP is requested using dhcp.
You yould add other entries here, e.g. to load additional modules.
On the development server, immedeatly a internet connection is available using an exteral router.
